Blessedly, the Republican National Convention ended this evening. I normally wouldn't be watching it, but as a fan of Rachel Maddow, I feel bound to watch her show every night, and since she was covering the convention this week, there you go! I'm not really a fan of Trump or his ilk, but we've found a way to make watching (and listening) to them more enjoyable...
On our last trip to the Midwest, on a visit to our nephew's house, they had little guns that shot suction cups at flat surfaces (think television sets!). You get a little emotional release by shooting at anyone causing you stress or unhappiness. Fortunately, I found a couple in the Target store when we returned to Tucson, and it was one of Melinda's anniversary presents when we celebrated in June. Shown at left, they shoot little Nerf suction cups with surprising velocity and easily fly straight across the room and stick to our new big-screen TV. The only problem with them is that Melinda is a little too weak to pump the mechanism, but it is easy enough for me to do it for her. The little stickers are different colors, so you can identify which of you took which shots.
So Melinda found some release in shooting the TV after I made her at least listen to the broadcast. At right is my grouping from across the living room, though I moved across the room so that I could get the gun and TV in the same frame for an image. Nice shootin' eh? Must be from the practicing I get w/my shootin' buddies out in the desert, though the suction cups are easier on the TV screen than the real thing!
backhand yawn zzzzzzzzz.........
ReplyDeleteoh yeah sorry i fell asleep, and when i wake up later from your snoozefest going to see hillary'samerica a dinesh d'souza film sure to keep me wide awake and interested.
ReplyDeleteOh yea - I see "Hillary's America" is out now and even playing in Tucson! The documentary made by the convicted felon that Rotten Tomatoes gave a 5% score for. I'm sure I'll try to squeeze it into my schedule... -Dean
ReplyDeletethe theater was packed even at 10 am. yeah obama didn't like his first film so no special consideration for the opposition. ahem. rotten tomatoes, meh, yup and hillary won't be convicted EVER for her several high crimes against America.... rigged against the common man. far too many are ignorant of the truth regarding American History. Andrew Jackson was a democrat the original racist, and Lincoln was a republican. And everyone knows Trump is NOT a republican and hillary is just as much of a joke who in no way represents most women. all weak candidates this year
ReplyDeleteThis blog is not for political discussions. If you feel an urge to do that then please find another blog to spread your vitriol.
ReplyDeleteI'll alter my comment a bit, removing the word vitriol. This, however is still not a political blog. If that's your interest then please find another place to comment.
ReplyDeletemaybe you should tell dean that the original intention of your blog was to not contain highly charged political posturing i.e., "shooting at folks you don't agree with." and even commenting how the nerf type is better for the tv than the real thing. the amount of disguised animosity in those words is spilling out all over the place. and if you think folks are going to take that form of severe talk in stride, guess again.
ReplyDeleteThat you preface it all with nerf toys in jest, and then there was the comment about "the real thing" being more damaging to the "tv" and referencing your shooting buddies getting together, well that changed the joke to a reality, placing doubt about true intentions. you see there is always an element of truth that runs through our "joking around" so if it makes you feel better shooting at the tv in the face of all the tragic shootings everywhere well thats on YOU and VERY INSENSITIVE!!! well beyond silly vitriol, and if you don't get it, ill just stop reading your blog and so will lots of other folks except your loyal family, think about it! Your blog is read WORLD WIDE i would think that you would be more sensitive to posting anything that emulates SHOOTING at any person. and while I'm on the subject I'm not afraid to confront dean about anything. i don't place him on a pedestal like almost everyone else, and he has known this about me for 20+ yrs.
by the way, mr d'souza sets his story starting with his incarceration and what he learned about the process for the common man, and that forgiveness is measured for the financially powerful. its a movie everyone should see and make one's own decisions about what is presented. not what some third party reviewer/douche says. telling you I'm going to see a movie to learn something about hillarybillary is fairly benign, and YOU turning your verbal nerf guns on me for exercising my first amendment right to free speech shows me just who you both are.
